POSITION OVERVIEW


The Software Engineer will be responsible for implementing new infrastructure, and product features vital to improving the overall efficiency of the sales team, and the monetization of traffic sources. Responsibilities include:

  • Traffic Analysis: Analyze traffic streams to identify key areas for marketplace improvement measured in terms of coverage, PPC and quality
  • Building scalable systems: Build scalable services and systems which can be used across the teams in the company
  • Fraud detection: Analyze traffic and identify any fraudulent traffic through statistical and machine learning methods. Build real time filters around this analysis
  • Reporting and Management Tools: Build tools which can provide insights into historical and real time traffic and help the management make decisions


CANDIDATE OVERVIEW


The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience of in software and Web development
  • Strong OOP/OOAD and API design skills and have the ability to write clean and testable code
  • Solid back end programming experience with Linux, Java, Spring, Junit , multi threaded programming and must be good at Perl or Python, HTML and Javascript
  • Expert in at least one of the relational databases -- MySQL/Oracle/PostgreSQL and should have experience with no SQL databases
  • Must have worked in iterative development process with emphasis on testing and peer code reviews
  • Must be detail-oriented, very self-motivated and be willing to work in a highly competitive environment
  • Prior experience in dealing with large data sets involving Machine Learning, Statistical Analysis and/or Hadoop is a plus
  • Experience in SEM or SEO industry a plus
  • Excellent written and communication skills

Senior PHP developer (Culver City)

We are looking for a senior app and web developer to grow with us to the next level.

- Senior level PHP developer with framework experience, preferably steeped in CodeIgniter 2.0.
- Experience with MongoDB, or other noSql database systems - production level experience a plus.
- CMS experience, primarily EE 2.0, but also Wordpress, Drupal, etc. in a multi-server stage/production environment.
- Facebook Developer experience, with examples of previous work, including FB Connect, and tab/canvas app development.
- Experience with js, jquery, html5, css, and ajax-centric development, no div-itis.
- Experience developing against APIs, FB, Twitter, and so forth, the ability to read API docs and determine whether you will encounter issues when scoping an app.
- IDE based development, we use Eclipse, but PHPStorm or similar will be required.
- Subversion experience, Github a plus.
- Experience with build systems, we use Hudson.
- AWS experience, especially EC2 and S3.
- Scalr experience a plus.
- Command line skills, for example, can you tail a log file?
- Experience ingesting 3rd party resources via xml, son, etc. to populate an app, either on a daily or periodic basis.
- Ability to discern when it is appropriate to build versus buy.
- Experience with other languages would be great, especially Java.
- Willingness to learn, and to share knowledge as well.
- Not afraid to speak up when you don't know something, and before it is too late to get help.
- Proficiency with Photoshop (Illustrator, In-Design are a plus).
- Experience writing unit tests for your code.
- Ability to be extremely detail-oriented with strong commitment to cross-browser and cross-platform testing, troubleshooting and quality assurance.
