Existential Game app - Berkeley student seeking partner(s)

I'm a recent University of California Berkeley grad looking for an experienced iPhone app developer who wants to work together on an interesting new project. It's a game. But it's not your typical game. It's a game my friends and I play in real life.

Originally, we were going to turn it into a blog. But as I got deeper into the game and realized, it makes much more sense as a mobile app.

This game is so entertaining and addicting, that I left my boring startup job in San Francisco just so I could live at my parent's house while I get this project off the ground.

Without revealing too much, the app blends real-life risks with entertainment. It will be free to play, with paid premium features. Hipsters (gulp) will be our primary market. Ages 18 - 30. I'm only saying this because I'm 25 and all my friends can't wait to play. In reality, the game has mass appeal. Emphasis on the MTV / Vice magazine crowd.

I am seeking a partner in crime who can serve as the technical arm of this operation. If you're being contacted it's because your profile stood out among the rest. You're looking for more, I assume, than just another client's mobile app; you want a project that's interesting; that you'll be proud to say you worked on; that might lead (hopefully) to bigger and better things. I do!

2 things:
-Programming the app will require knowledge of real-time social gaming environments (think Draw Something) and video-sharing applications like Viddy. However, there will be no animation.
-Design and marketing I can assist with.

To learn more:
-Reach me on Odesk or via email at ------------. If you're in the LA area, we can meet and talk in person. We can Skype too, if you're outside of California.

I genuinely look forward to speaking with you.

  • Compensation: Competitive

Vans Wängl Tängl 2012 presented by G-Shock Recap

March30
From March 17th to 24th 2012, the weeklong Vans Wängl Tängl Presented By G-Shock Contest-ival in Mayrhofen, Austria showcased the highest level of snowboarding the event has ever seen, bluebird and sunshine and a perfectly shaped Vans Penken Park in best condition, innovative skateboarding, nightly parties, live music and life-long memories for all who attended the 10th Anniversary of this rider driven Ästhetiker event.

Snowboarders Eric Willett, Iouri Podladtchikov and Arthur Longo made the trek from the Winter X Games in Tignes to join the laid back vibe of the unique team-format Vans Wängl Tängl snow crew battle and took a break from their rigorous schedules to ride the perfect conditions of the oversized Vans Penken Park with its legendary Red Bull Endsection. Peetu Piiroinen's team topped the podium with a first place finish for the "Triple Cock.”

Skaters mingled with musicians and snowboarders to check out the Pop-Up gallery hosted by Looking Sideways, which featured works from snowboarders and skateboarders Danny Wainwright, Blaise Rosenthal, Corey Smith, and French, Danny Larsen and others.

The highest level of skating went down on the Mega-Mini-Ramp in Mayrhofen with Jake Collins dominating a "Cash for Tricks” Best Trick contest. Day two of the skate event featured a knock-out style team format that awarded innovation and combo tricks. Nassim Guammaz and Daan Van Der Linden amazed the crowd with creative skating and split the prize money with the other stand out teams in the top 4 finals, which included Josh "Manhead” Young & Andy Scott, Martino Cattaneo & Kevin Blaser, and Micky Iglesias & Phil Zwijsen.

Every night a different location and music lineup, free open air concerts and legendary parties were on the menue of the 10th Anniversary celebration for the Vans Wängl 10gl 2012. On the final night, M.O.P and Roots Manuva brought their legitimate hip hop legacy to the streets of Mayrhofen and performed a free show for nearly 1000 fans in the Music Pavillion.

After a decade of staying true to the Ästhetiker and Off The Wall spirit, this event continues to be one of a kind, an event that creates memories and defies the boundaries of the typical contest. It's rider-driven, for the riders, skaters, artists and musicians. It's an event that no one wants to miss.
