We are seeking a contract Jr. Software Engineer with a desire to build robust, scalable, and exciting web and mobile applications. You will  be part of a team that works on diverse, site-spanning projects involving our mobile and client platforms,  video, web services, security, user-to-user interaction, and more.  We desire someone who is comfortable writing clean and efficient code, and has passionate opinions about user interface and interaction.
This may lead to a Full Time positon.

Responsibilities:
• Participate in technical design efforts of our Spazzmania App ensuring that the design is well documented and meets scalability and performance requirements
• Participate in the implementation (e.g., coding, testing, debugging) effort
• Analyze and research data analytics
• Build large scale web applications for desktop and mobile
• Familiarity with (and excitement about!) recommendation engine and the search/information retrieval space in general

Qualifications:
• 2-4 years of experience with the LAMP stack.
• 2-3years of experience with a well-known MVC framework (CakePHP strongly preferred).
• Solid understanding of REST APIs.
• Strong experience with PHP
• Strong Object Oriented Programming skills
• Expert knowledge of SQL databases, web servers and performance optimization
• Excellent verbal and written skills, with proven ability to communicate complex ideas and to design and document projects in a clear, concise way
• Results-oriented and proactive with proven leadership skills
• Linux/Unix experience is essential
• Experience with JSON & XML.
• Skilled in setting up a LAMP environment on virtual private server platforms.
• Experience with version control systems such as Subversion, Git
• Self motivated and committed to quality while having respect for the sense of urgency that exists at all startups

Education and Nice To Have's:
• BS and/or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Recent experience building highly scalable enterprise system a big plus
• Have worked with affiliate networks
• Familiarity with programming for mobile platforms and/or other JSON APIs

SENIOR DRUPAL-PHP DEVELOPER TO JOIN START-UP MANAGEMENT TEAM (Los Angeles)

Existing and currently operating hyper-local, social web start-up with a unique online service is looking for a lead Drupal/PHP developer to join its management team as the company's senior developer and possible Chief Technology Officer (the latter depending on the applicant's experience). Developer, at first on a part-time basis, will initially only acclimate him or herself to the existing code base and develop a limited number of additional features to existing beta application, as well as, and more importantly, be a part of the company's management team in investor pitch meetings to raise the company's first round of capital. Upon raising the company's first round of capital, the position will become full-time. More details and the identity of the company will be provided later.

Compensation for initial, part-time development work will be $65 per hour and, as a member of the company's management team, applicant will also receive stock equity in the company. Applicant should have at a minimum at least three years of PHP development experience and at least two years of Drupal development experience, as well as strong experience dealing with web 2.0/social media based applications. The two main product lines are the Remote Monitoring and Management system and the hosted email security service. At present, systems administration, code deployment and infrastructure engineering are handled by members of the product engineering team and we now need to add experienced and talented devops engineers to take responsibility for these activities, working closely with development staff and bringing knowledge and expertise in high-volume, mission-critical applications. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participate in product delivery projects working closely with development and test staff on delivering low latency, high performance applications
