Technical Program Manager
Oversee is looking for a strong Technical Program Manager to provide overall management support across multiple projects and teams to ensure efforts are directed toward common business objectives and efficient execution on planned deliverables. The technical environment involves the support of over 300 million unique visitors/month, the complex handling of internet traffic, front-end serving platforms, and data tracking and analysis on the back-end. It's critical for the Program Manager to be comfortable with quickly picking up technical concepts and understanding how to traverse multiple systems and business processes to help remove roadblocks for the team. The Program Manager should feel confident in making difficult decisions with often ambiguous or incomplete data.
As Program Manager, you will have the responsibility of ensuring the smooth running of all projects that make up a significant portion of the business. You will work in a matrixed organization to lead small teams of software developers on multiple projects on tight delivery timelines with established release cycles. You must be able to manage stakeholders with priorities that may conflict and provide value in each delivery by making the appropriate tradeoffs. You must be able to influence resources without having direct authority over them. You should be able to work in both Agile and other project management methodologies.
Responsibilities:
Run Agile sprint development cycles including backlog story and defect reviews, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, escalations, demos, and retrospectives for several teams
Define the resource and scheduling plan for each sprint or project
Facilitate in identifying and mitigating risk factors
Be an active dev/QA team member and contribute to Oversee's continuous improvement initiative
Learn enough of the technical architecture and understand the business objectives in order to make effective resource decisions; understand when to escalate and to whom
Manage resource, scheduling, and priority issues and conflicts, and know when to escalate
Communicate project status to all stakeholders including Engineering, QA, Product, Sales, Business Development, Analytics, and Systems
Maintain current processes as well as propose improvements
Identify and develop performance metrics and other KPI's
Provide support to Sales for tracking operational business processes where they involve tech
Support the Systems team by keeping track of overall tech priorities across business units
Stay informed of all production releases and communicate impacts to Engineering or the Business
Liaise between Product Management and Engineering to qualify, prioritize, and schedule deliverables
Manage stakeholder expectations (primarily internal customers)
Manage technical vendors in the design and prototype phase of projects, including facilitating vendor selection
Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly status updates for executives and stakeholders
Enforce usage of the project tracking tool in order to report monthly resource allocations across all tech projects
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering, Technology or related field
Minimum 5 years experience in software development, preferably experience using Scrum or other Agile methodology
Ability to simplify complex topics for a non-technical audience
Must have project management skills
Must have strong written, oral, and face-to-face communications skills
