WANTED: Contract - User Experience/Information Architect (El Segundo)

You will work closely with project teams to define and create designs that achieve business and user goals. Design the UI architecture, interface, interaction flow and aesthetics of web-based projects. Develop conceptual diagrams, wireframes, visual mockups and graphic assets.

Position Duties will include, but are not limited to:

• UI architecture, interface, interaction flow and aesthetics of projects
• Understanding of usability issues and best practices
• Design practices, particularly as they apply to the implementation of standards for interaction, color, typography, artwork, brand alignment and all other visual/interactive expressions of the user experience
• Work closely with stakeholders to define and create designs that achieve business and user goals
• Design the UI architecture, interface, interaction flow and aesthetics of projects
• Develop conceptual diagrams, wireframes, visual mockups and graphic assets
• Translate usability and field research findings into design improvements
• Guide technical and business teams in user-centered design principles, and promote usability best practices
• Make sure that all members of the creative team and the developers involved with a given project are equipped with the necessary information and assets to effectively get their jobs done.
• Work with project Producer to meet project timelines and/or note timing conflict as soon as possible.
• Ability to conduct user research and usability testing

Position Qualifications:

a) Education:
BA or BS in the following: Graphic/Visual Arts, Library and Information Science, Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction, Information Sciences, Marketing, Industrial Design, Fine Arts, or a related area.

b) Special Knowledge or Skills [Software]
• Strong knowledge of site design; mastery in principles of Web Design
• Strong knowledge of user interface design processes and methodology
• Working knowledge of User Centered Design Principles and Practices
• OmniGraffle, Visio or other tool for creating wireframes
• Adobe Photoshop and other Creative Suite programs
• Microsoft Word and other Office programs
• MAC and PC platforms
• Aware of multiple browser limitations and features
• Knowledge/familiarity with Flash.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

c) Prior Experience:
• Minimum 3 years of work experience with degree
• Minimum 5 years of work experience without degree
• Experience working on large, complex sites
• Experience observing user research and translating user research into design decisions.
