Senior Developer - Cars.com, Santa Monica (1670) (Santa Monica)
Cars.com is a premier leader in the automotive online marketing space. We are looking for a senior level software engineer with a breadth of knowledge and experience.
The Ideal Candidate Description:
You're a self-motivated, ferocious problem solver. Dont know a programming language that would be best for a situation? You learn it. Not sure what the best DB structure might be for a given application? You research options, make suggestions, and hash it out with the team.
Youre a team player. This sounds like a cliché but we're a small team. We try to avoid politics here. Theres a team effort to move our projects forward quickly and get them done correctly. We work closely to get it all done: generate ideas, designs, and code -- and accept feedback in stride.
You're a generalist. You're not a one trick pony who is an expert in only one thing. You're a programming polyglot, fluent in several programming languages and paradigms. You live on the bash command line but maybe you can also admin a Windows domain. Maybe you've done time in QA, NetOps, or as a DBA.
You have recent frontend and backend web experience and good knowledge of SQL.
We mainly use PHP but you do not need to know it as long as you have significant experience with a real-world object-oriented language (Python, Ruby, Java, C++, Smalltalk, etc.) and are willing to learn. You must have experience with both backend and frontend development (JavaScript, Flex, HTML/CSS). You grok SQL and have a good working knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, or MSSQL).
You dream in OO. You're a skilled object oriented designer and have a strong command of common design patterns. You've architected non-trivial portions of systems, preferably an entire system, and are familiar with a framework or two of some sort.
You like to work on Linux or BSD. The Dev team is all about Linux though we do have some Macs. The servers are Linux, the desktops are Linux. You do not need to be a guru, but the more Linux knowledge such as shell scripting and configurations you know the better.
Core Responsibilities:
- Architect and develop technical solutions for our websites
- Ensure code and design quality
- Take the lead in teaching and guiding other developers in exploring new technology and approaches.

What can I say... I was born on Cinco de Mayo 2002 and since my early age I got intrigued with this programming stuff that by boss does. So I figured i learn some of it to help him out with rent and shit like that. I might have some grammar error here and there but u know this "english language" is not really my first one.
Piss off now.
I'm gonna take a nap
