We seek a Technical Writer to join our team. The position is located on site, in our Woodland Hills, CA office.

The Technical Writer will be responsible for developing, writing, and editing materials for items such as user manuals, online help, outreach documents for the technical community, and other technical documents.

Responsibilities:
  • The Technical Writer supports the engineering and technical staff in documenting research, hardware and software designs, and preparing briefings, operating procedures, business logic, business rules, and programming code and manuals.
  • Specifically, this position creates, develops, plans, writes, and edits operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publication.
  • Conducts interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation.
  • Researches and translates technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for nontechnical and technical users.
  • May document engineering processes and specifications.
  • Recommends formats responsive to technical and customer requirements.
  • Produces products that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards.


Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two(2) years of technical writing experience;
  • Skilled in documenting research, hardware and software designs, and preparing briefings, operating procedures, and manuals;
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Products.
  • Working knowledge of PHP and LAMP (you will be tested on these as part of the interviewing process).


Education and Experience Required:
  • Ability to work independently – must be a self-starter;
  • Excellent technical writing skills (samples requested);
  • Previous experience writing user documentation (reference guides, user manuals, online help);
  • Experience developing and converting documents for online web display (web development/HTML skills);
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
