Web Developer/Programmer / Software Engineer (Palm Desert – Palm Springs)

We are an established e-commerce company that owns and/or operates several major law related web sites including,, and We are looking for someone with strong web programming, system engineering and technical skills to join our small team. You will be involved in all phases of technical management, programming/coding of all the sites we own and/or manage.

The responsibilities will include creating and updating the back-end functionality for new and existing web sites, general programming tasks, creating mockups of new functionality and managing new projects. Part of the responsibilities also include managing the servers and making sure that they are operating efficiently.

This is not an entry level position. We are looking for candidates with actual on the job experience of *at least* 3 years in web related programming and development. You must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.

You must have the following skills:

o Strong Programming skills (i.e. PHP, CGI, Perl, JavaScript, etc.)
o Knowledge of SQL databases (MySQL server)
o UNIX/Linux Server Management
o Website management (FTP, telnet, ssh, etc...)
o Ability to install Perl, CGI, PHP and similar scripts on servers
o Basic Web Site Design (HTML, JavaScript, CSS etc...)
o Apache Web Server configuration.
o Understanding of basic statistics and basic statistical analysis
o Good oral and written communication skills
o Strong project management capabilities.
o Strong organizational skills.

The following additional skills would be helpful, but are not required:

o Experience with Code Igniter
o Experience with the jQuery JavaScript library
o Experience with database management and optimization
o Basic ability to use Graphic Design software (i.e. use programs like Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, PaintShop, Dreamweaver etc.)
o Knowledge of other skills relating to web development, web design and web site maintenance
o Working knowledge of Internet/Web Marketing and Promotions
o Working knowledge of SEO and PPC marketing
o Business Development Skills

Basic Function:

The Web Analyst is expected to be extremely analytical, detail oriented, and team oriented. The analyst will be responsible for the collection, analysis and interpretation of web statistics; producing regular traffic reports, analyzing trends and most importantly working with Omniture and other web analytics platforms to ensure that KPIs are collated and reported accurately. In addition, the Web Analyst will provide clear articulation of key findings and insights to the internal team (account, creative, media and tech).

The Web Analyst must be proficient with current analytics platforms, implementing new platforms, developing custom reports and key performance indicator (KPI) dashboards, providing detailed analysis, and the ability to piece together ad hoc analysis of client websites, web analytics, etc.

Role and Position Responsibilities:

• Assess performance metrics for online/offline marketing campaigns and other traffic driving efforts
• Evaluate websites and its inbound sources and measure organic search traffic.
• Understand business needs, develop analytics strategies and assess results
• Utilize data-driven insights to make recommendations for performance optimization
• Monitor trends on core client digital properties with internal and external analytics
• Provide competitive reports based on 3rd party data (total traffic, traffic sources, etc.)
• Configure website analytics platforms for initial implementation and ongoing use
• Ensure data integrity and proper technical implementation of analytics tags
• Responsible for regular traffic reporting on core sites
• Assist Manager of Digital Strategy with all duties described above

What you need to have:

• Minimum experience – Minimum of one (1) year to two (2) years experience configuring website analytics platforms, developing custom reports and providing analysis on website statistics
• Analytics platform experience – Experience with various website analytics platforms like Google Analytics, Omniture, or similar
• Search – general understanding of SEM and SEO
• Online media – Basic understanding of ad serving (e.g. DART) and media analytics as well as the ability to work closely with the media team to tie media traffic to web performance
• Problem Solving – ability to quickly solve problems in a fast paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills – ability to communicate with clients in all formats: verbal, presentation, email, written documents
• Detail Oriented – Organized, excellent attention to detail and the ability to effectively multi-task to meet client’s business objectives
• MS Office – Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
• A degree in Economics, Computer Sciences, Web Intelligence or similar discipline a plus

This position will require you to monitor our information systems to prevent unauthorized access, modification, destruction, or disclosure of information. You will be involved in designing, developing, integrating, maintaining, and operating systems to protect data, detect changes and irregularities, log and monitor activity of vital technical systems.
