The Web Services Engineer will be responsible for development and maintenance of the web platforms that provide sales, fulfillment, and promotional functions for the company. Youll provide optimal design implementation for re-use and customization across myriad channels to minimize time to market with new promotions, as well as being highly available and responsive.
Responsibilities Include:
Builds, maintains and updates scalable, reliable web applications that serve as the foundation of the business
Completes thorough unit testing using industry best practices during development to ensure quality product releases on schedule
Provides web systems counsel relative to business problems and ensures that the strategic direction of the company is followed in tactical decisions
Works with Marketing, Operations and Engineering teams to define, improve, and implement web technologies in support of business objectives
Assumes advisory role with internal clients on projects to determine infrastructure and systems integration requirements to solve business problems in a support role
Follows established procedures for file management and backup, version control, coding, commenting the code, updating the bug/sug tracker and/or making entries in history files, and documenting error messages
Works collaboratively and cohesively with all web team members and business function representatives
Requirements Include:
4-8 years of experience in web development, including object-oriented development in C# ASP.Net and PHP environments, and working with MS-SQL Server and MySQL
A diverse background of IT infrastructure technologies, project management and systems integration experience
Demonstrated background in various IT Infrastructure technologies; previous experience in any or all of the technical aspects of Web hosting technology including: Microsoft IIS implementation and troubleshooting; ASP; .NET, Visual Basic, Java, C#, Windows Server 2000/2003; Windows SQL Server 2000/2005; Web scripting and shell scripting in a Windows environment; SSL and certificate management; architecture and design of high availability systems; and Web site design and performance best practices
Front-end UI development with JavaScript, CSS, AJAX
Web services experience
Strong experience in Adobe Web Suite and CS3 products with access to such on a personal computer
Demonstrated problem solving skills
Capable of discussing related infrastructure technology in simple terms and able to articulate issues that drive strategy and standards decisions to all levels of management
Demonstrates a strong project management approach and problem solving skills; a customer service attitude, good oral and written communication skills and organizational sensitivity
Must be able to work in the U.S. from home without requiring any U.S. sponsorship
Must provide own computer system
Conversant in Mac and PC formats
Must be available from 10am to 9pm Pacific Standard Time--more details on this as the schedule is also flexible
