This is a unique opportunity to be a BD-J Programmer for the Blu-ray Disc (BD) home entertainment platform, and work on blockbuster movie title releases. 1K Studios is looking for an experienced developer with excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of object oriented design, and deep knowledge of interactive entertainment products.

1K Studios is a fun, design-oriented environment focused on developing content for next-generation home entertainment platforms. Our clients include movie studios, technology companies, and game companies. Our work on Blu-ray includes designing cutting-edge user interfaces for many of the Blu-ray titles on the market today. This is a great opportunity to learn about and participate in a new format that will be shaping home entertainment for years to come.

Responsibilities:
• Customization and extension of existing BD-J applications for movie title releases
• Providing creative solutions to difficult problems on an emerging, next generation format
• Technical consultation with our creative team on new interactive ideas
• Reliably deliver projects on tight deadlines

Requirements:
• Bachelor Degree (BS) in Computer Science or similar
• 3+ years experience with object-oriented design and development of applications using Java
• Strong work ethic, ability to deliver on a deadline
• Commitments to excellent quality and user experiences

Pluses:
• Experience with J2ME
• Familiarity with the DVD production process (authoring, encoding)
• Experience with industry leading visual design tools
• Experience with development tools : Subversion, Eclipse

Our clients include movie studios, television studios, and technology companies. Since even before the launch of the Blu-ray format in 2006, 1K has been designing cutting-edge user interfaces for some of the best-selling Blu-ray titles on the market. This is a great opportunity to learn about and participate in a new format that will be shaping home entertainment for years to come.


Responsibilities:
• Customization and extension of existing BD-J applications for movie title releases
• Performance tuning BD-J applications running on set-top BD players, in low memory, low CPU platforms
• Troubleshooting applications across a variety of players, to achieve universal compatibility
• Providing creative solutions to difficult problems on an emerging, next generation format
• Expert knowledge of Blu-ray Disc (BD) and technical consultation with our creative team on new interactive ideas
• Reliably deliver projects on tight deadlines with a positive attitude


Requirements:
• Bachelor Degree (BS) in Computer Science or similar
• 2-4 years Java experience
• 2+ years experience with XML based technologies
• Experience developing desktop or other user-centric applications
• Strong work ethic, ability to deliver on a deadline
• Commitments to excellent quality and user experiences
• Self motivated, energetic
