Who are you? - a brilliant technologist based in Los Angeles, CA who knows you can change the world with great software
- a master in Flash/Flex, OOP, AS3 OR a quick learner with mastery of server side languages including: PHP, XML, Ruby, C#, C++, HTML, CSS, MySQL, Java, Python,
- you have a lot of relevant experience- this could mean working in start-ups, managing offshore development, developing rich consumer facing web applications, writing functional and technical specifications, and developing multi-media games
- a self-motivated, self-directed technical visionary that can lead and motivate all technical teams to launch this highly innovative and meaningful learning platform – this means determining the execution style appropriate for the stage of the company, building the team, shaping the development platform, selecting the architecture, maintaining and scaling the platform to support millions of concurrent users while communicating complex technical advancements and issues in a non-technical, easy to understand manner
- A creative thinker that can oversee the programing of flash games. You should have a portfolio of polished and professional games that you have already developed
- A fun and energetic team player who believes in collaboration and enjoys working in small, entrepreneurial environments
- PhD, MS or BS of Computer Science from a top school

Director, Data Warehousing (Santa Monica)

Edmunds.com is seeking an outstanding candidate for Director, Data Warehousing to join the Enterprise Data Architecture/Business Intelligence team. This position will lead the development of a business performance data warehouse to provide the company’s reporting and key performance indicators for strategic product decision-making. The ideal candidate must be highly proficient in data warehouse architecture principles and scalable software system design practices within in a web-based product development environment. He/she will thrive in a fast-paced highly versatile setting that values team-based product development and ingenuity through applying technology to solve business problems and scale accordingly.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Directly manage the data warehouse engineering team; responsible for the overall direction, coordination of assignments, evaluation and professional development of the team.
  • Work closely with the business analytics team to develop and implement technology solutions that deliver key performance indicators of the business strategy.
  • Coordinate business and technical teams within a matrix organization to ensure all initiatives meet strategic objectives. Partner with internal business teams in developing delivery roadmaps.
  • Facilitate resolution of all technical design, development and test issues using sound planning and organizational practices; provide clear strategic objectives and tactical details for team members to execute upon.
  • Monitor and report on the status of all projects, ensuring team deadlines and milestones are met with predictability.
  • Implement and uphold sound data quality practices through process and protocol.
  • Manage relationships with vendors assisting with delivery and support.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies to enhance the company’s offerings and department operations, and develop recommendations accordingly.

    Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience with relational DBMS, preferably Oracle
  • 3+ years experience managing the design and development of database applications and data warehousing solutions across multiple projects.
  • 5+ years managerial experience utilizing strong leadership skills including mentoring, communication, decision-making and project management.
  • Extensive experience with web click-stream data sets, the associated requirements of upstream systems and http tracking strategies for timely and accurate collection of user events into the warehouse system of record.
  • Strong aptitude for iterative functionality driven software development, preferably AGILE software principles.
  • Proven ability to facilitate, gain consensus and/or compromise with diverse teams or individuals both internally and externally.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
